Welcome to
the Bildungszentrum Saalfelden
The
Bildungszentrum comprises 3 areas: the education centre, the public library and
the Volkshochschule:
The Bildungszentrum is the umbrella institution
covering all activities. It also seeks to develop and initiate projects relating
to current issues and educational wishes. Such projects may also be targeted
towards people who have thus far not been supported. In addition, conferences
and exhibitions offer ways of presenting current social and political topics to
the wider public.
The public library is a source of media
that is available to take out on loan. The library aims to cover as wide a
range of interests as possible to match the broad diversity of reading material
that may appeal to the general public. Library items are displayed in a
suitable way to promote and inspire interest in reading, especially in the case
of material for children and teenagers.
The Volkshochschule delivers courses and
educational sessions that impart knowledge appropriate to the interests of
participants. Topics relevant to the present are addressed as well as endeavouring
to address any wishes arising from feedback forms or personal feedback. The Volkshochschule
aims to cater to the educational interests of as many as possible.
The
Bildungszentrum was founded in Autumn 1993 when the first Volkshochschule
courses took place. The public library opened in 1994 and since then the
institution has continued to develop. Courses now take place not only throughout
the day but also at weekends, the library stock has increased substantially,
and the Bildungszentrum has become a developer of a new range of educational
material and formats.
Working in
the world of education requires constant development and change to match the wishes
of the public and the demands of society, and it is this that keeps us busy on
a daily basis.
